Pyramid of Kukulkan, Chichen Itza, Yucatan, Mexico

Chichen Itza pyramid Kukulkan

The big pyramid of Kukulkán at Chichén Itzá against the bright blue sky. Kukulkán is a Maya feathered serpent deity similar to the Aztec Quetzalcoatl. We got up early this morning, but were again frustrated in getting the best light for photography by the Mexican government's insistence on not opening the Chichén Itzá Archeology Site until 8 a.m., when the sun is well up and the day is already hot. I suppose I could find some archeology office somewhere and get a permit to shoot earlier and later, but I dread the bureaucracy, and, frankly, we don't have the time. Maybe in the next life…or maybe if someone were actually paying for these pics.
