Since we've been in Germany, the weather has been uniformly dreary. But at least this morning, instead of just dull overcast, we had fog in Heidelberg. So, I grabbed the camera and rushed out to the river. I walked pretty much as fast as I could for three kilometers up the opposite side of the Neckar River to the Old Bridge (Alte Brücke) where it crosses into the Old City of Heidelberg.
I was hoping all the half hour I was walking that the fog didn't dissipate before I got there. I didn't need to worry, though, because the fog ended up hanging around all day, and I was able to get some more shots from up the hill at the castle down onto the Old City. More of those on another day in another post.
I processed this as black and white, because, well, foggy days just look better in black and white.

Oh, yes, so much better in black and white!
That’s a VERY sturdy looking bridge.
I’m sure it’s been standing for a very long time.
I have been to Heidelberg many times, always loved wandering in and around the castle and eating in the bierhalls after. But I don’t think I ever saw sunshine there. Your fabulous bridge picture precisely captures the mood I remember.
After a while you just have to inside and drink beer and sing German songs to cheer up.
Fantastic!! Your photo is exceptional!!
Thanks, Marilyn.
I love B&W…gorgeous shot!
Thanks, Corinne. I’m a big black and white fan myself. Probably the first 100,000 shots I made in my life were black and white.
