Uxmal, one of the Mayan cities along the “Ruta Puuc” in the Central Yucatan is one of the best restored and preserved of the Mayan sites. The visibility of the layout of the city, enhanced by extensive restoration, is perhaps second only to that of Chichén Itza. Even better than the restoration of the buildings is the preservation of the extensive carvings, such as the repeated motif of the feathered serpent below.
